Post Holiday Bloat: How to Get Rid of It

Updated: May 11, 2021

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all of my Canadian friends! Even though the weekend just passed, I’m still really enjoying leftovers and pumpkin pie, so it isn’t over for me, yet! Something that we can all agree on is that post holiday bloat- it’s real and can leave us feeling lethargic, tired, moody and out of balance. Guilt can be an emotion we feel very easily. Here’s what Jess Koper has to say on how to get back into routine: Don’t feel guilty. You enjoyed your time with family and friends and indulged a little. Don’t try to make up for it this week by restricting meals, just move on with your healthy habits.

  1. Get moving. Exercise supports healthy digestion and improves blood sugar levels. And not to mention, those endorphins will help you feel less sluggish. This will also stimulate your lymphatic system to help detoxify the body.

  2. Stay hydrated. Drink lots of water to help flush out your system and reduce bloating. I love lemon water first thing in the morning or herbal teas like dandelion, peppermint, fennel and chamomile to support healthy digestion (insert l e a v e s)

  3. Get back into your routine. After indulging, your body wants to get back on track. Having a meal with high fibre and high protein is great to balance blood sugar. Fuel up with clean foods and you’ll bounce back in no time!

We hope you enjoyed your holiday and make sure to keep this saved for the next few holidays coming this year!
